Who is a candidate for Clear Aligners?

Clear aligners used to be reserved for patients with mild to moderate orthodontic issues. Thanks to advancements in orthodontic technology, however, a much wider range of patients can now utilize clear aligners to achieve a straighter smile. Patients who choose clear aligners over traditional braces need to commit to wearing their aligners for at least 20 to 22 hours per day, so patients who are very forgetful are not always great candidates for clear aligners. How do you take care of Clear Aligners?

Clear Aligners must be removed any time a patient wants to eat, drink something besides water, or brush or floss their teeth. You should also brush your teeth or at least rinse out your mouth after eating and before putting your Clear Aligners back in to keep them clean. Aligners need to be cleaned at least once per day with a gentle yet effective cleaning agent like soap, white vinegar, or hydrogen peroxide. Clear Aligners should never be cleaned with things like toothpaste, mouthwash, or bleach, as they can be harmful to the braces or to the patient.
